2025 Paddle Australia SUP National Championships

Looking for a Challenge in 2025 ??
This year WA will be hosting the Paddle Australia Australian Marathon Canoe / Kayak and SUP Championship at Ascot Kayak Club over the weekend 10-13 April 2025.
The program will include National title races for SUPs in Technical, Marathon and Sprint. There will be male/female open and multiple age categories in all races.
Current Dates are:
SUP Marathon - Thursday 10th April 2025
SUP Sprints - Saturday 12 April 2025
SUP Technical - Sunday 13 April 2025
SUPWA will be supporting the event and will provide a $50 rebate* on entry for any SUPWA member that wishes to enter to encouraging as many WA SUP paddlers to enter the Championship.
Dont be put off by the fact its a National title event, WA put on a great show in 2023 in Geelong with over 7 paddlers representing WA, with most us entering our first nationals, being really competitive and having a great time.

Wedge Island Shaka -2025

The annual SUPWA Wedge Island Shaka comp is on again. The most fun SUP surfing comp ever sponsored once again by the Stand Up Surf Shop North Fremantle. It will be on Sunday April 6 2025. We will decide which day a week out, choosing the best conditions. It will run over just the one day either Saturday or Sunday. The decision will be posted on the SUPWA Facebook page as will the exact location at Wedge. The location is 4WD only and no dogs allowed.
Traditionally this has been a SUP longboard event but like last year any length boards are allowed (but longboards are encouraged) with judges scoring equally for longboard manourves as for shortboard ones. The format is that everyone surfs twice no knockout heats. The divisions are male, female, juniors and rookie division.
The event will also include a Tech Race which will have a Rookie Division. Surfing and racing included in entry price. Can do either event or both.
Entry is $50 for SUPWA members and $80 for Non-SUPWA Members (includes Day-only SUPWA Membership). Entry price includes event a much covetted SHAKA 2025 T-Shirt.

2025 WA State Marathon Championships

Paddle WA will be running the WA State Canoe Marathon Championship for SUP at the Ascot Kayak Club on Saturday 29 March 2025 at 10:00am.
The race will be 11.5km and will be the same course as marathon race for Paddle Australia SUP National Championship which will be held Ascot Kayak Club over the 10-13 April.

Rod Fry Memorial Race - 2025

The Annual Rod Fry Memorial Race is on again for 2025 on the 23 March 2025 from the Swan Canoe Club. This great race for SUP that travels down from Swan Canoe Club in Mosman Park down to the Stirling Highway Bridge and back (12KM). There is also a 3km and 6km option. Entry is $25 if Paddle Australia Member or $45 if not

SUPWA is pleased to announce Race 3 of the The After Glow Training Series on 20 February 2025 at 5:30pm
The After Glow TRaining Series is a series of 3 evening SUP Technical Races to held over the Summer 24/25 out of the SUPWA Shed / Hurricane Outrigger Club in East Fremantle.
The course is a 2.6km technical race, with a water start from Rocky Bay Cove followed by 3 laps around a series of marker posts and then passing three more channel markers back to the beach at the SUPWA Shed. Race is open to all board types and SUP paddlers from Rookie to Advanced.
Three races will be held over the summer 19 Dec 2024, 16 January 2025, 20 February 2025. Race one race, two races or all three. Bottle of wine spot prize on the night and $100 Voucher for 8 knots Tavern for fastest time over the 3 races
$10 entry fee includes BBQ afterwards (BYO drinks) with a social get together with SUPWA and Hurricane crew afterwards.
Please arrive from 5:30pm for sign on and safety briefing.
Leg/waist leash mandatory. NO LEASH, NO PADDLE.

All board lengths and types are welcome -
It isn't a race, but about having fun. Nominate a time that you think you will achieve - next Paddle Loop try and beat that time. The trick is to paddle consistently at a speed you feel comfortable with - which is entirely up to you! The winner is the person closest to their nominated time. The top 3 paddlers (closest to their time) receive ultimate legendary SUP paddler status + prizes.
It's a fun opportunity to get involved with the very friendly SUPWA community and try or develop your SUP paddling. Get some tips, have some fun or have a goal for fitness. Open to all levels and all ages. (Kids under 13 must be accompanied/chaperoned by an adult around the course).
Please arrive from 1030 for sign on and safety briefing.
