EVENT DETAILS
04-04-2015 07:30 – 09:00 Deep water point, Mount Pleasant
Easter PaddleLoop & MiniLoop
Registration between 7am & 7.20 for a 7.30 start, be there early to get your number.
Come down to Deep Water Point for the Easter SUPWA PaddleLoop. Simply enter the free event online by putting in your nominated time for either:
1. The Long Loop - 4.2km (below 30mins is a good time for strong paddler)
2. Short Loop - 2.2km (below 15mins is a good time for a strong paddler)
All board lengths and types are welcome - whether you have a surf SUP or race board. If you don't have a board WA Surf have their Naish N1SCO Inflatable 12'6 boards for you to use. If you get exactly your nominated time on a N1SCO you will win a $200 shop voucher, if the voucher hasn't been claimed by th eend of the season (July) you are in the running for the $200 voucher for the person closest to their nominated time (on a N1SCO).
It isn't a race, but about having fun. Nominate a time that you think you will acheive - next PaddleLoop try and beat that time. The trick is to paddle consistently at a speed you feel comfortable with - which is entirely up to you! The winner is the person closest to their nominated time. Receive a great SUPWA T'shirt - also the top 3 paddlers (closest to their time) receive Pod Points for their Pod.
It's a great opportunity to get involved with the very friendly SUPWA community and try or develop your SUP paddling. Get some tips, have some fun or have a goal for fitness. Open to all levels and all ages. (kids under 10 should be accompanied by an adult around the course).
All welcome, all free...all fun!

WA Surf Flatwater20
Ascot Kayak Club - Garvey Park Ascot, Western Australia
07:30 – 14:00
WA Surf Flatwater20
PLEASE NOTE THIS EVENT DATE HAS CHANGED TO THE 22ND OF MARCH
WA's best and only SUP Marathon race. Held this year in the beautful surrounds of Bayswater - near the finish for the Avon Decent. The WA Surf Flatwater20 is the premier marathon even, its a rewarding challenge and it is tactical, the key is to draft your competitors, which results in a long conga line of paddlers - which is quite spectacular to watch.
This year we have a couple of new additions to make the racing even more exciting. Teams of either 2 or 3 can enter - electing to either paddle the course as a team or divide the course into relay legs or both! Team paddling is similar to the Tour de France where a team of 2 or 3 will create their own train and swap over the lead to get the fastest pace - by mindful however, that you will be timed off your slowest paddler (don't fall off the train!). The relay option is simply doing a lap or 2 each of the 4 lap course (5km per lap). The change over pen holds the paddlers, as your paddler comes by you tag them to change over or you can elect to paddler with them as a team - tactical options.
The change over pen is a set area of ~100m, you must tag within this zone to chahnge over with your team member - if you are outside this zone (ie you both paddled past without tagging) then you are deemed to be paddling together as a team (draft train) - the time or changeover person on the next lap will be taken off the slower paddler in the team.
This will make for excting racing - anyone can draft anyone (within their gender), so there will be trains and break aways - something always going!
For course the real focus will be on the solo paddlers. These guys and girls represent the top paddlers from the state - taking on the full 20km for National representation.
Should be a great day - make sure you you get onboard a train!
