This has been confirmed!  Registration 0700 for a 0730 start. Come down to Deep Water Point Mt Pleasant, it's a free event for SUPWA members or $5 to non members, just nominate your completion time. 1. The Long Loop - 4.2km (below 30mins is a good time for strong paddler) 2. Short Loop - 2.2km (below 15mins is a good time for a strong paddler) All board lengths and types are welcome - It isn't a race, but about having fun. Nominate a time that you think you will achieve - next PaddleLoop try and beat that time. The trick is to paddle consistently at a speed you feel comfortable with - which is entirely up to you! The winner is the person closest to their nominated time.  The winners receives a great SUPWA T'shirt for those closest to their time - also the top 5 paddlers (closest to their time) receive Pod Points for their Pod. It's a fun opportunity to get involved with the very friendly SUPWA community and try or develop your SUP paddling. Get some tips, have some fun or have a goal for fitness. This year we are aiming to make the race more inclusive. We will have three senior boat categories, including, K1, Surf Ski and sundries. All registrations for this years race will be online and we would appreciate if these could be completed earlier rather than later so that the race day will run smoothly.   Australia's World Class DownWind Run The Stand Up Surf Shop King of the Cut is held along on the beautiful Peel Coast line where the famed, powerful and consistent West Coast Seabreeze blows perfect, un-interrupted runners like an endless conveyor belt.  This year the event will be tracked live from the lovely people at Track Me Live. Follow the link for competitor details, tracking and results: http://live.trackmelive.com.au/King-Of-Cut-18/   In it's 7th year, the 2018 edition of the Australian Downwind Championship - the King of the Cut has some new changes: 1. The Half Cut - a shorter 10km race.This event will be held on the same day as the main race.  The Oceanside run is the first half of the famous KotC run, fantastic medium to large runners propelling you down the Peel Coast finishing in Mandurah. 2. The Djeridjinap Run Supporting Ocean Heroes - Estuary Downwind Fun Run on Friday night for all levels. Fantastic way to learn to Downwind in a sheltered environment with friendly mentors. The Stand Up Surf Shop King of the Cut Pro Class is now a separate entry class - this year sees the Pro Class (Male & Female) as a separate division which brings the event in line with all the major prize money events in the world. To be eligible for prize money you need to enter the Pro Class division.  4. New Prone Paddle Board Class - This year's event is open to Prone Paddle Boards. 5. Foiling Class - Is now an official division for the 2018 KotC. Whilst this division won't compete the Open Prize money (or the line honours KotC trophy), Enviroplumb has once again kindly put up a $500 prize for 1st Foiling Board across the line. 6. Cut Training Run & Sundowner During the Week - Mid week there will be a Cut Training run with a Sundowner catch up - TBA 7. Outriggers - OC1 are now recognised for the 2018 KotC and Half Cut 8. KotC Presentations and Stoke Party - this year the presentations and Stoke Party will be held in Central Mandurah at Oceanic Bar and Grill on Saturday night.  Limited Free Event Tee Shirt with early bird entries - offer closes 1st of Novmber 2018 Divisions: In accordance with the SUPAA Rule Book, there will be a Male and Female Pro Class that will compete for the allocated prize money. The  Male Pro Class is an Open Board Division, so both 14' and UL will contest the Prize money and overall King of the Cut Trophy, not the age group trophies. The Female Pro Class is a 14' division only. There is a Female UL division, but this is not a Pro Class division. All other competitors will register in their age group. Age group trophies are allocated,  but not prize money. Note - Your age group is determined by your age on the 1st of Jan 2019. The first week of December is the most reliable time for strong winds and optimal downwind conditions in Perth. West Oz Downwind Week, constitutes five downwind events to appeal to every downwind SUP paddler.   1. The Triple SSS  (22nd November) Thursday A mid-week Downwinder from Port Beach to City Beach. 11km race, with some of the top paddlers from around the country and the world. SUP Yoga and the SUPWA SUP Canal Tour Come join us Saturday morning for some SUP Yoga to prepare yourself for the day. Thanks to event sponosor - Stand Up Surf Shop, we have some specialised Yoga SUP boards and a qualified Yoga instructor to take you thru the way SUP should be experienced - in nature and in balance. Later on you can take a guided tour of the Mandurah Canals. Learn the basics of SUP technique whilst taking a relaxing paddle around the picturesque canals of central Mandurah. Please note that this isn't a learn to SUP course, particpants should have some experience on a SUP prior to the tour. Regards, Gordon Stimson The Djeridjinap Run Supporting Ocean Heroes The Friday before the Stand Up Surf Shop King of the Cut features a community based SUP event - The Djeridjinap Run. This is a social Downwind Run - not race, held on the protected waters of the Mandurah Estuary.  The Estuary is a fantastic option for learning to Downwind and SUPWA has arranged a group of mentors to show you how. Djeridjinap Run  Djeridjinap means "Happy Place", If you just want to do the run, you can use any length board you like - 9 foot, 10 foot, anything. The course is 5km downiwind and SUPWA volunteers will be on hand to give you some tips on how to downwind. Be part of the "Happy Place" with the biggest Social SUP Downwind the Estuary has seen! SUPWA Presents The Michael Booth Paddling Clinic - as part of the SUPer Clinic Series   Micahel is unavailable for the clinic due to a scheduling conflict with the ISA World Champs (which were only just moved). All participants will receieve a refund. Apologies for this folks - beyond our control,   Michael Booth is a stand up paddler from the east coast of Australia with a background in many sports. After competing at an elite level in Surf Life Saving, Kayaking and Ocean Ski in 2016 he has turned his major focus to sup. With an extensive knowledge in paddlesports and an ability to adapt his skills he has successfully burst onto the SUP scene in 2016. In doing so this year he has won events in Australia including 12 Towers, Forster Island Paddle, Noosa Surfing Festival, Qld SUP titles and overseas Lost Mills - Germany, Sainte Maxime - France, the SUP CUP - Croatia, Battle of the Bay - San Fransisco, The Chigaski SUP Cup - Japan & The Kalamalka Classic - Canada.    With Michaels extensive knowledge in paddling in many different sports he is offering to teach his secrets and help you become a better paddler. His goal is to help you to become a more efficient and effective paddler which will ultimately help you have more fun!    This is an opportunity to learn from the 2016 World Champion from the Pacific Paddle Games. Spots are limited for the 1.5 hour clinic so book early to avoid disappointment.    Michael is a Starboard Team rider and the full 2019 Race board range will be on hand to try out during the clinic.
