The SUP Central 2017 Flatwater 20 Marathon Extravaganza
Ascot Kayak Club
07:30 – 13:00
The 2017 SUP Central Flat Water 20 Marathon Event is held in the beautiful upper reaches of the Swan River, Belmont Waters at the Ascot Kayak Club.   The SUP Central Flat Water 20 is formatted to allow paddlers of all ages and abilities to participate and witness the incredible endurance and abilities of Western Australia’s elite SUP race paddlers, as they compete for state titles and prepare to take on the world’s best in the Stand Up Surf Shop King of the Cut.   The SUP Central FW20 Teams and PaddleLoop format;   • Team Option: This year you can set your team up anyway you like! The only condition is that you need to do 3 laps of the 5.5km loop (16.5km) as well as come up with the best team name! • Paddle Loop Option: Individuals can participate and complete ‘one’ 3.5 km Paddle Loop lap – you simply nominate your expected time and the winner is the person closest to their nominated time.   So you can "Race it or Cruise it!".   SUPER LAP - Solo Competitors Only SUPWA will for the first time introduce a ‘Super Lap’ concept, within the multi- 4 lap course. • The 4 laps consisting of 3 x 5.5km laps and 1 x 3.5km lap; each individual ‘Marathon’ paddler gets to take a short lap on one lap of their choice. • This concept allows a competitor to break away from a train and make the race even more tactical. The U/17 is a 9 km marathon distance, consisting of 1 x 5.5km lap and 1 x 3.5km lap. Don’t miss the first event on SUPWA’s 2017/18 Racing Calendar!   AWARDS 20 Km State Title (14' Board Class Only) Open Elite - Men Open Elite - Female Under 17 Male & Female 9km Under 40 Male & Female Over 40 Male & Female Over 50 Male   State Championship medals and trophies will be awarded to Solo categories. The 2017 Starboard Black Blade & PaddleLoop
Champion Lakes, Armadale
07:00 – 12:00
The Starboard Black Blade presented by Stand Up Paddle Sports is the finest SUP Short Course regatta in Australia. The Black Blade was the first SUP Sprint race on a buoyed course in the world outside America. Competitors will race over 3 distance - 200m, 1000m and 5km. Come down to see who will take out the title for Fastest Paddler in the State for the 200m. Note the 2017 Starboard Black Blade was moved to the 21th of May. If you have already entered your entry will carry over to this date. Great fun format, with all divisions contesting state championship medals for the best paddler across the 3 distances. This year also includes a PaddleLoop division. Paddlers wanting to cruise can enter the Paddleloop Package - a 200m fun run and a 4km PaddleLoop - around the island at Champion Lakes - both with projected times. You choose the time you think you will get - should be great fun with the 200m - no paddling backwards or stopping! Board : 14' (must use the same board for all 3 races) Divisions: Male Open Elite* Male U/40 Male O/40 Male O/50 Female Open Elite* Female U/40 Female O/40 Junior Division   Entry fee is for all 3 races. Overall points for Flatwater Champion across 3 distances - total time will be added from your 3 races to decide the Black Blade Champions. *Top 4 best overall times will constitute the Open Elite divsion - recognising the most outstanding paldders in the State. Paddlers finishing outside the top 4 will then be broken down into age divisions for the best times for each age category (top 3). There will be heats held to rank paddlers into A, B & C finals for 200m and 1000m. There are no medals for 200m and 1000m races (this is no longer a champion race - just a race to add to your overall time), except the 200m Open Elite Medal for the fastest paddler in the State (first 4). All races work toward the final overall time to determine the Age Group Divisions - this means paddlers will race against paddlers with similar speeds, rather than just similar age, but will still end up competing for their Age Group Championship (Unless they are too fast and end up in the top 4 overall - becoming an Open Elite Champion - the top paddlers in the State!).
