  Australia's World Class DownWind Run The Stand Up Surf Shop King of the Cut is held along on the beautiful Peel Coast line where the famed, powerful and consistent West Coast Seabreeze blows perfect, un-interrupted runners like an endless conveyor belt.  This year the event will be tracked live from the lovely people at Track Me Live. Follow the link for competitor details, tracking and results: http://live.trackmelive.com.au/King-Of-Cut-18/   In it's 7th year, the 2018 edition of the Australian Downwind Championship - the King of the Cut has some new changes: 1. The Half Cut - a shorter 10km race.This event will be held on the same day as the main race.  The Oceanside run is the first half of the famous KotC run, fantastic medium to large runners propelling you down the Peel Coast finishing in Mandurah. 2. The Djeridjinap Run Supporting Ocean Heroes - Estuary Downwind Fun Run on Friday night for all levels. Fantastic way to learn to Downwind in a sheltered environment with friendly mentors. The Stand Up Surf Shop King of the Cut Pro Class is now a separate entry class - this year sees the Pro Class (Male & Female) as a separate division which brings the event in line with all the major prize money events in the world. To be eligible for prize money you need to enter the Pro Class division.  4. New Prone Paddle Board Class - This year's event is open to Prone Paddle Boards. 5. Foiling Class - Is now an official division for the 2018 KotC. Whilst this division won't compete the Open Prize money (or the line honours KotC trophy), Enviroplumb has once again kindly put up a $500 prize for 1st Foiling Board across the line. 6. Cut Training Run & Sundowner During the Week - Mid week there will be a Cut Training run with a Sundowner catch up - TBA 7. Outriggers - OC1 are now recognised for the 2018 KotC and Half Cut 8. KotC Presentations and Stoke Party - this year the presentations and Stoke Party will be held in Central Mandurah at Oceanic Bar and Grill on Saturday night.  Limited Free Event Tee Shirt with early bird entries - offer closes 1st of Novmber 2018 Divisions: In accordance with the SUPAA Rule Book, there will be a Male and Female Pro Class that will compete for the allocated prize money. The  Male Pro Class is an Open Board Division, so both 14' and UL will contest the Prize money and overall King of the Cut Trophy, not the age group trophies. The Female Pro Class is a 14' division only. There is a Female UL division, but this is not a Pro Class division. All other competitors will register in their age group. Age group trophies are allocated,  but not prize money. Note - Your age group is determined by your age on the 1st of Jan 2019. Orange Smoke Flare Leg Rope Prone Paddleboards = Leg rope *Inflatable PFD type 1, cannisters and flares will be on sale at registration (limited numbers though)     West Oz Downwind Week The Fremantle Doctor is the consistent wind that hits the Southern WA Coast from noon, every day over summer. The first week of December is the most reliable time for strong winds and optimal downwind conditions in Perth. West Oz Downwind Week, constitutes five downwind events to appeal to every downwind SUP paddler.   1. The Triple SSS  (22nd November) Thursday A mid-week Downwinder from Port Beach to City Beach. 11km race, with some of the top paddlers from around the country and the world. The 1/2 Cut (1st December) Saturday (or Sunday) Down in Mandurah, the first half of the King of the Cut (10km) from the Dawesville Cut to Mandurah. The 1/2 Cut is a race open to all paddlers, best suited to paddlers just getting into Downwinding or those that prefer a shorter distance. SUP Yoga and the SUPWA SUP Canal Tour Come join us Saturday morning for some SUP Yoga to prepare yourself for the day. Thanks to event sponosor - Stand Up Surf Shop, we have some specialised Yoga SUP boards and a qualified Yoga instructor to take you thru the way SUP should be experienced - in nature and in balance. Later on you can take a guided tour of the Mandurah Canals. Learn the basics of SUP technique whilst taking a relaxing paddle around the picturesque canals of central Mandurah. Please note that this isn't a learn to SUP course, particpants should have some experience on a SUP prior to the tour. Schedule 0900 - Registration at Eastern Foreshore Mandurah for SUP Yoga Session    0915-1000 - SUP Yoga  0945-1015 - SUP Canal Tour Registration 1015-1145 - SUP Canal Tour   Safety  SUP Yoga can only be done on SUPWA supplied boards - limited places available Minimal safety requirements for SUP Canal tour are a leg rope that is attached to the board and person. Regards, Gordon Stimson The Djeridjinap Run Supporting Ocean Heroes The Friday before the Stand Up Surf Shop King of the Cut features a community based SUP event - The Djeridjinap Run. This is a social Downwind Run - not race, held on the protected waters of the Mandurah Estuary.  The Estuary is a fantastic option for learning to Downwind and SUPWA has arranged a group of mentors to show you how. Djeridjinap Run  Djeridjinap means "Happy Place", If you just want to do the run, you can use any length board you like - 9 foot, 10 foot, anything. The course is 5km downiwind and SUPWA volunteers will be on hand to give you some tips on how to downwind. Be part of the "Happy Place" with the biggest Social SUP Downwind the Estuary has seen! SUPWA Presents The Michael Booth Paddling Clinic - as part of the SUPer Clinic Series   Micahel is unavailable for the clinic due to a scheduling conflict with the ISA World Champs (which were only just moved). All participants will receieve a refund. Apologies for this folks - beyond our control,   Michael Booth is a stand up paddler from the east coast of Australia with a background in many sports. After competing at an elite level in Surf Life Saving, Kayaking and Ocean Ski in 2016 he has turned his major focus to sup. With an extensive knowledge in paddlesports and an ability to adapt his skills he has successfully burst onto the SUP scene in 2016. In doing so this year he has won events in Australia including 12 Towers, Forster Island Paddle, Noosa Surfing Festival, Qld SUP titles and overseas Lost Mills - Germany, Sainte Maxime - France, the SUP CUP - Croatia, Battle of the Bay - San Fransisco, The Chigaski SUP Cup - Japan & The Kalamalka Classic - Canada.    With Michaels extensive knowledge in paddling in many different sports he is offering to teach his secrets and help you become a better paddler. His goal is to help you to become a more efficient and effective paddler which will ultimately help you have more fun!    This is an opportunity to learn from the 2016 World Champion from the Pacific Paddle Games. Spots are limited for the 1.5 hour clinic so book early to avoid disappointment.    Michael is a Starboard Team rider and the full 2019 Race board range will be on hand to try out during the clinic.

SUPWA Presents The James Casey Downdwind Clinic   James Casey is an Australian International SUP paddlers based on the East Coast. James has competed in Downwind events all over the globe and is highly experienced in this particular discipline. He has won the Maui2Molokai and come 3rd in the M2O regarded by many as the Downwind World Championship. Additionally James was the first Australian to compete in the Poi Bowl Foil race in Hawaii.   Don't miss this opportunity to learn from one of the best Downwind paddlers in the world. Places limited to 10, so get in early.   Meet at Sand Tracks Beach in North Fremantle before 1530, so the clinic can start on time. James will be assisted by Dale Chapman and Stimo - the first part of the session will involve in/out inside the shleter of the groyne. After that James will lead the clinic down the coast to Cottesloe.   The SUP truck (Included in the clinic), will meet you at Cottesloe to drive your board back to your car at the start.

Slalom;  ‘to move or race in a winding path, avoiding obstacle WE want YOU! Open to ALL paddlers.  Novices to Elite, and everything in between. In teams of two – Prizes for the best team name. The course will consist of a sprint start and finish and some buoy turns in between! Two laps each with your partner of a safe and spectator friendly course.  Starting and finishing at the Swan Yacht Club in East Fremantle.  No medals or trophies but, loads of goodies up for grabs!! 9am start Registration from 8am $20 per team Fun filled morning for the whole family.  Get amongst it! The STARBOARD SUP Australia Flatwater 20 Marathon Extravaganza   The 2018 Flatwater 20 Marathon Event is held in the beautiful upper reaches of the Swan River, Belmont Waters at the Ascot Kayak Club.   The Flatwater 20 is formatted to allow paddlers of all ages and abilities to participate and witness the incredible endurance and abilities of Western Australia’s elite SUP race paddlers, as they compete for state titles and prepare to take on the world’s best in the upcoming Doctor and world renowned King of the Cut events.   The FW20 Teams and PaddleLoop format;   Team Option: This year you can set your team up anyway you like! The only condition is that you need to do 3 laps of the 5.5km loop (16.5km) as well as come up with the best team name!   Paddle Loop Option: Individuals can participate and complete ‘one’ 3.5 km Paddle Loop lap – you simply nominate your expected time and the winner is the person closest to their nominated time.   So you can "Race it or Cruise it!".   SUPER LAP - Solo Competitors Only   This year SUPWA will continue with the ‘Super Lap’ concept, within the multi- 4 lap course. The 4 laps consisting of (3 x 5.5km laps) and (1 x 3.5km lap); each individual ‘Marathon’ paddler gets to take a short lap on one lap of their choice. This concept allows a competitor to break away from a train and make the race even more tactical.     The U/17 is a 9 km marathon distance, consisting of 1 x 5.5km lap and 1 x 3.5km lap.   Don’t miss the first event on SUPWA’s Racing Calendar!   AWARDS 20 Km State Title (14' Board Class Only) Open Elite - Men Open Elite - Female Under 17 Male & Female 9km Under 40 Male & Female Over 40 Male & Female Over 50 Male   State Championship medals and trophies will be awarded to Solo categories. Open Elite Category will be first 3 paddlers across the line in female and male regardless of age group.     Team Event 16.5km – 3 legs (12.6 & 14ft Board Length Only) Awards will be issued for following categories: 1st, 2nd & 3rd Place Teams The Team that nominated closest to their time!   Teams are to select a captain who is to contact the team events manager for event rules. Can all use the same board or 3 separate boards?   Paddlers that don't have full team can contact the teams Event Manager (Sue Collins –sueandchallis@iinet.net.au) to get organised into one.   Individual - Paddle Loop 3.5km (any board length greater than 10') Individuals to nominate their time and awards issued to those who complete the course closest to their time.   Registration - 0730  Race briefing - 0830 Race Start - 0900 Presentations immediately after the final competitor finishes.
